In this second edition, our guests are Bodegas Perelada (Family Wineries Since 1647 - Familia Mateu Suqué) with their exclusive Empordà wines: 5 Fincas Reserva, Finca Espolla, Finca La Garriga, Finca Malaveïna and Aires de Galabert.
Perelada is determined to make the most of Empordà's wine potential. That's why they put a lot of effort into experimenting with new things and drawing conclusions.
When Miguel Mateu bought the Castillo de Perelada in 1923, one of his main dreams was to recover its wine tradition. This is how the Cavas del Castillo de Perelada were born, in the heart of the Empordà, a region that enjoys privileged geoclimatic conditions thanks to the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea and the extraordinary heterogeneity of its soils.
In this event we enjoyed the visit of Delfí Sanahuja, head of oenology at Perelada, passionate about the world of wine, methodical and curious, who is committed to innovation and research for the development of Perelada wines. He always seeks continuous improvement, always challenging himself to make better wines. In 2015 he was awarded as the best winemaker of the year by the Catalan Association of Winemakers.
The Círculo del Liceo Restaurant offered a tasting of five wines from Bogedas Perelada, accompanied by a select assortment of Spanish cheeses.
5 Fincas Reserva: A complex wine that expresses the different microclimates, terrains and varieties of the Empordà.
Finca Espolla: Under the Sierra de la Alberra, the black slate reinforces the fresh, balsamic and affable character of this wine.
Finca La Garriga: The oldest vines in the winery give us a wine capable of expressing the full potential of the Empordà.
Fina Malaveïna: An elegant and complex wine that has become one of the most significant references on the wine scene in our country. This will be our recommended wine for the month of March.
Aires de Garbet: If there is a typical variety of the Empordà, it is Garnacha. Planted in Garbet, it produces an expressive, extremely Mediterranean wine.
