The secrets of the instrument: the pipe organ
Saturday, 20 Noviembre 18:00
* Private and exclusive events for members of the Círculo del Liceo

The Music Commission of the Círculo del Liceo is pleased to invite you to the second session of the cycle "The secrets of the instrument". After visiting the Jorquera Pianos workshop, this time we will discover the pipe organ inside the crypt of the Sagrada Familia, with its titular organist, Juan de la Rubia.

The event was a successful convocation, with about 100 attendees and the delivery of a contribution from the Círculo del Liceo to the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia, which was recognized with a certificate of sponsorship for participation in the patronage campaign.

Thanks to a donation from the Congregation of Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Crypt of the Sagrada Familia has the opportunity to enjoy a romantic pipe organ made by one of the best builders in history, a Cavaillé-Coll from 1896. This organ is unique in Catalonia, and it fits in one of the chapels of the Crypt and is perfect to carry out the musical accompaniment of the liturgy and to carry out concerts.
The Crypt has not had an organ since the beginning of the Civil War, a fact that detracts from the songs and the liturgy. Such an emblematic space and with such an intense parish life deserves a first class pipe organ that allows one to enjoy a deeper musical experience in all celebrations.
Juan de la Rubia, titular organist of the Sagrada Familia, maintains an intense concert activity that in recent years has taken him to more than twenty countries and to venues such as the Madrid National Music Auditorium, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Cathedrals of Cologne and Westminster (London), the Maison de Radio France (Paris) and the Mariinsky Theater and the Philharmonia of Saint Petersburg.

Leave your mark on the heart of the Sagrada Familia

The parish of the Sagrada Familia has started a patronage campaign to pay for the restoration and transfer of the organ, so part of the amount that the members pay to attend this event will be donated to the Parish of the Sagrada Familia. Members who wish to do so are encouraged to share their generosity through a donation. You can obtain more information about the modalities and tax benefits by clicking here.
