The Círculo del Liceo hosted the presentation of the book «Chapeau: de Casas y Picasso a Balenciaga y Pertegaz» by Josep Casamartina, art historian, specialized in art criticism and curatorial projects for art exhibitions of the 19th and 20th centuries. The event also featured Anna Maluquer, co-editor of the book and director of the Palau Foundation.
The book is dedicated to the fascinating world of hats. On the one hand, it shows the prominent presence of hats in 20th century art, including Picasso, Ramon Casas, Federico García Lorca, Antoni Tàpies, Joan Ponç and Joan Brossa. On the other hand, it presents for the first time pieces from the Antoni de Montpalau Collection Fund, which includes such emblematic names in haute couture as Cristóbal Balenciaga, Pertegaz, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent or Pierre Balmain. The book is the result, greatly expanded, of the exhibition of the same title that was held in 2019 at the Palau Foundation, which was the most visited in the entire history of the institution.
