The Círculo del Liceo hosted the conference in English The poetry of Louise Glück - Winner of the Literature Nobel Prize 2020 by Karen Swenson, poet, journalist and member of the Círculo del Liceo.

Karen Swenson (New York, 1936) is a Graduate from Barnard College, Columbia University. In the 60’s she was a teacher at The City College of the City of New York in the Basic Writing Program under Myna Shaughnessy. She worked first on an MA in American Literature and then a Ph.D. on Beowulf and Old English. She spent six years travelling across the US teaching as Poet in Residence at universities all over the country. Returning to New York City she taught at City College, Fordham, NYU and Barnard College.

She has published several poetry books: An attic of ideals (1967, Doubleday), The landlady in Bangkok (1994) which won The National Poetry Series, A daughter’s latitude (1999, Copper Canyon Press) and A pilgrim into silence (2008, Tiger Bark Press), including poems about Tibet. She wrote articles for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal about the places she visited and the people she met. She moved to Barcelona in 2010.
