The Círculo el Liceo hosted the presentation of the book "Why I am a monarchist" by Sergio Vila-Sanjuán, novelist and cultural journalist.
In his book, the prestigious Catalan journalist reviews four generations of Spanish monarchs - from Alfonso XIII to Felipe VI - based on the relationship between his family - his grandfather and his father, convinced monarchists- with them. Mixing the wide panorama with the most intimate one, he traces the history of the country throughout the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, and justifiably argues his monarchical affiliation "for objective, subjective and also family reasons".
Sergio Vila-Sanjuán is a novelist and cultural journalist. He has worked as head of culture at El Correo Catalán, editor-in-chief of El Noticiero Universal and since 1987 at La Vanguardia, where he currently coordinates the Cultura/s supplement. He is a specialist in literary issues and the world of books. He was curator of the 2005 Book and Reading Year and is a member of the Royal Academy of Good Letters of Barcelona.
